Vegas Trip 3: Red Rock Hotel

Red Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, NV
First off, let me start by saying this is probably the best hotel in Vegas. Even though it's a little ways away from the strip, it's still pretty damned good, and it was an awesome place to stay. What's there to say about it? Well there's the rooms, which were spacey and accommodating. Sure, they were pricey. But personally, I think it was well worth the price.

Vegas trip (Two): Sky Jump

This, my friends, was the Stratosphere's newest addition to it's thrill-seeking rides: The SkyJump. At first glance, it's essentially a cord-assisted freefall drop from the upper stories of the tallest Vegas attraction, down 800 or so feet. I was lucky to try out this ride myself (at the expense of around $125), and personally, it really isn't all that it's cracked up to be. First of all, it's not really that death-defying as it's previous rides, such as the X-Scream, Big Shot, or the roller coaster thing that goes off the edge of the building. It's essentially a slow 800-odd feet decent. It may look fast from an onlooker's point of view, but really, it's pretty damn slow. Those who were particularly afraid of heights in general were pretty fun to watch as they fell slowly, flailing their arms around as they were gently lowered to ground level, as his friends pointed, laughed and watched. Around the time it was my time to shine, I wanted to do a dive, head-first. But due to strict rules to prevent injury, I was told to simply step off of the edge to begin my six-second drop. There wasn't much to do while falling either; no flips, no turns, the cord made it difficult to maneuver around, it did most of the pulling, you were essentially a suspended puppet for a few seconds before let down. People would clap as soon as you touch the floor, expecting you to gasp for air, and kiss the solid ground or whatnot. However, I just took my bow and got my free shirt, which I paid for while signing up for this thing. It says that I survived the fall. More like slept through it.

Summary: Fun, for the most part. You get to see a good view of Vegas, so I recommend you do this at night. Good for people who are afraid of heights and have friends who pressure him into doing this stunt. Fun to watch when they're screaming and dangling. Great for sadists. Not so great for those with weak constitutions and/or those who have a weak bladder.
